Robin "Towards the end of 2001 I started my training to become a Driving Instructor. This was a natural progression from driving over 2 million miles in everything from small cars to lorries in the course of my work, both in Britain and on the continent. Over many years I had trained everyone from salesmen and accounts clerks to warehouse operatives, and I soon realised that if you make learning fun, you make it easy. In 2001 I took the decision to combine the two skills and teach people to drive, one of the best decisions I have ever made! Since passing my final exams I have taken several extra courses to increase the range of my experience. |

Until November 2008 I trained Driving Instructors for the AA. I once taught a Vietnamese pupil who spoke very little English, meaning we had to communicate by hand signals and gestures. She passed her test, with few penalty points, at the second attempt. Now that was a challenge! I would very much welcome the opportunity to teach you, and I look forward to meeting you." |

Nick "I have been a Driving Instructor for 6 years, and for the last 4 years I have been teaching in an automatic car. "Why automatic?" is a question I am often asked. It all started when a friend who was moving away asked if I would like to continue teaching his pupils. I had only really driven automatic cars whilst on holiday, and like most manual drivers I was a little sceptical. It didn't take me long though to appreciate just how versatile modern automatic cars are, and I was soon hooked! |

What I like about teaching in an automatic car is the wide variety of pupils I get, with ages ranging from teenagers to pensioners, and from all walks of life. One of the most memorable pupils I have ever taught was quite a character - a 76 year old Jamaican who passed on his third attempt, which shows that you are never too old to learn!" |
